How Pre-Construction Treatment Works
Soil treatment is applied in stages during construction: after excavation and before backfill, under the slab before pouring, and to the perimeter soil after slab completion. The combined barrier covers all entry points at the foundation level where subterranean termites would otherwise access the timber framing above.

The Stages of Treatment
After excavation, before backfill
Once footings and foundation trenches are dug, we treat the exposed soil so the base of the structure sits on a treated zone from the start.
Under the slab, before the pour
The fill and sand layer beneath the slab is treated and, where used, the plastic membrane is lapped correctly so there is no untreated gap for termites to exploit. This is the stage that cannot be redone later.
Perimeter soil after slab completion
Once the slab is down we treat the perimeter soil, completing a continuous barrier around every point where soil meets structure.
Certificate and records
We document the products, rates and coverage and issue a treatment certificate — useful for warranty, villa sale and management records.

Common Mistakes We See on Bali Builds
Most termite problems in newer Bali villas trace back to a handful of avoidable shortcuts during construction. The most common is skipping the under-slab stage entirely — treating only the perimeter, which leaves the whole slab base unprotected. Another is timber framing or formwork left buried in backfill, which becomes a buried food source feeding a colony from below. We also regularly find paths, terraces and garden beds built hard against the wall after handover, bridging straight over any perimeter barrier and giving termites a concealed route up into the structure. Coordinating treatment with the build, and getting the detailing right where soil meets structure, is what separates a villa that stays termite-free from one that needs expensive remediation within a few years.
